![]() Try both manual and automatic and see what you prefer. Make sure you turn stability control off if you're really going to try drifting though, it'll work against you. If you take the time to memorize a stage though, you should have a lot more success trying to drift. It happens spontaneously for me sometimes when i'm running a stage, but often times i'll just approach a corner going ever so slightly too slow, which results in no drift (especially on asphalt.) Which is fine. I also wouldn't worry too much about drifting as a new player, drifting is hard because you can't be going too slow and you can't be going too fast. It's better to work your way up, going a little faster each time than it is to go the opposite way. I'm constantly telling myself to just chill out and slow down a bit when i'm playing this game. We all know a wreck will take longer to recover from than taking a corner at 80, rather than 100 percent of the car's capabilities, but it's so hard for our brain to put that knowledge into practice. I guess that's pretty much it, not sure if this will be of any use, there are others in this sub who have much more expertise regarding the questions you asked, but yeah this was my take on the game.Ī tip for all rally games including this one is: Be patient For me when I was starting out I chose a particular track and a particular car and drove it multiple times just to get a hang of the mechanics/physics of this game. Now if you are on manual you have to downshift as you brake usually 2nd/3rd, really depends on the car and the corner.Īs for other tips, just enjoy the game and the music and keep trying things as you progress. The logic behind is that as you approach a corner, brake (which shifts the weight to the front), then add the direction you want to go while accelerating which throws the rear around and initiates a drift which you hold and maintain by adding slight accelerator and steering inputs ( Sorry, if I wasn't able to explain it clearly, I don't have much technical insight to these things, I do it with more feel which i developed form other sim racing games but as you go on playing you will figure it out, it's not that tough). ![]() ![]() Regarding manual transmission it depends, I have achieved top 10 leaderboard times with automatic but to be truly fast like to be in the top 3, it feels like manual transmission is the way to go.Īs far as drifting corners, I find drifting using braking and weight transfer is the way to go rather than handbrake drifts in this game. While starting out in this game, I turned down the stability assists and reduced my countersteering factor to 80%, now this works for me, don't know if it will work for you. ![]()
